Technical index of foam concrete

1. Dry density

The general dry density of foam concrete is 300-1100kg/m3, and some northern areas can reach 100-1200kg/m3 under the same strength; Used for floor heating, external wall insulation, and foundation insulation is 100-300kg/m3; Used for cast-in-place and non-load-bearing wall products 300-700kg/m3; Used for load-bearing wall and other load-bearing products 700-1200kg/m3.

2. Thermal conductivity

At present, foam concrete is mostly used for building insulation, so its thermal conductivity should be as low as possible. The thermal conductivity of floor heating and exterior wall insulation works is generally controlled at 0.06-0.18W/(M·K) according to its dry density.

3. Intensity

Because the density of foam concrete is very low, and most of it is natural curing, even if the cementing material with a higher dosage is used, its strength is correspondingly low.  So the strength of foam concrete is roughly 0.5-2.5mpa. Pure insulation use and do filling or covering, generally in 0.5-1mpa, the structure can be controlled in 1-2.5mpa, bearing heavy should be controlled in 5-10mpa.

4. Water absorption

Water absorption is an important technical index to measure the durability and physical properties of foam concrete. Almost all the failure processes affecting concrete durability are closely related to water, especially foam concrete. According to the characteristics of foam concrete, its water absorption rate can be controlled by 10%-25%, and if high insulation products, it is controlled by 5%-10%.

5. Drying shrinkage value

Foam concrete shrinkage will make its finished product or construction surface crack. In general, its drying shrinkage value of 0.6-1.0mm/m is allowed, if it is for some middle and high-end applications, in 0.6-0.8mm/m.

Why should the cement material of foam concrete use early strength cement?

In foam concrete, because of the requirement of permeability so the effect on strength is not very good, so will add some admixtures to enhance its strength. That it adds cement materials and why must be early strength cement?

In foam concrete, it takes a long time for the cement to set and harden to reach the required strength value. But because of the foam concrete water retention is poor, exudation rate is high, if you don't condensation material for a long time, at the same time can also lead to uneven density, foam defoaming and a whole collapse, cement must choose so early strength cement, accelerate the foam concrete early strength, improve the foam concrete early strength and no significant adverse effect on the strength of late.
