Superplasticizer is a kind of superplasticizer whose performance is much higher than that of ordinary superplasticizer.

What is superplasticizer?

Superplasticizer is a kind of concrete admixture which can reduce the amount of mixing water while keeping the slump of concrete basically unchanged.

After adding to the concrete mixture, it can disperse the cement particles, improve its workability, reduce the unit water consumption, increase the fluidity of the concrete mixture, or reduce the unit cement consumption and save cement.

Superplasticizer can greatly reduce the water consumption and significantly improve the strength of concrete at each age when the slump of concrete is basically the same.

What is the difference between superplasticizer and ordinary superplasticizer?

Both superplasticizer and common superplasticizer can effectively improve the rheological properties of concrete mixture, and the effect is similar, but in other aspects, the two kinds of superplasticizer are different.

1. The water-reducing rate of ordinary superplasticizer is usually 5%-10%, while that of superplasticizer can reach 12%-25%, or even higher.

2. Under the condition of constant water-cement ratio, superplasticizer can greatly improve the workability of concrete.

For example, high fluidity concrete with slump up to 25cm can be prepared by adding superplasticizer without excessive air entrainment.

It will not lead to excessive retarding of concrete; when the amount of cement is the same, the slump of concrete mixed with common superplasticizer is usually about 10cm.

3. When the slump is basically unchanged, the superplasticizer can effectively reduce the mixing water consumption of concrete and significantly reduce the water-cement ratio, so as to improve the strength of concrete.

Therefore, the superplasticizer is mainly used for the configuration of fluidity concrete with high requirements and high water reduction requirements, while the water reduction rate of ordinary superplasticizer is low, which is mainly used to prepare concrete with low strength and low water reduction requirements.

4. In the aspect of preparation cost, the solid content of polycarboxylic acid superplasticizer is high and the price is relatively high, while the solid content of common superplasticizer is low and the price is low.
